Healthy Food Alternatives

We all crave unhealthy food from time to time, and it can be difficult to get your child to eat healthy when all they want is junk. Try some of these healthy alternatives to see if they offer any relief.

Fruit chips:

Cut fruit very thin, employ a mandolin for even slices, and lay out on a baking sheet. Bake in your oven for about an hour at 225 degrees. Remove from the oven and allow to cool for a healthy and crunchy treat.

Nicecream:

Grab some frozen fruit- bananas really shine here- and blend them up in your food processor with a little cinnamon and vanilla.

Veggie noodles:

Lower the carb count in your meal by replacing regular pasta with zucchini ribbons. You can purchase a spiralizer for a few dollars that make the “zoodles” look and feel like the real thing.

Fruit frizz:

Instead of super sweet pop, try adding fruit to carbonated water. Lemon and lime taste great and a little goes a long way.

Mashed cauliflower:

Skip the potato and instead grab a stalk of cauliflower. Steam or boil the crown then strain, and mash. It’s that simple. Add seasonings and you’re good to go.

Frozen grapes:

Toss candy out the window. Allow some grapes to freeze for at least an hour then eat! Be careful of little ones teeth and don’t give them anything to hard.
