No matter if it’s your first, second or seventh baby, knowing what items to keep, donate or throw away is not as easy as it may seem. Here are our recommendations.
Keep
Although you probably want to keep every item with a sentimental value that belonged to your baby, doing so will simply lead to more clutter than it’s worth. Here are some things you may want to keep:
- Their favorite toy
- An expensive outfit they wore for a special event
- A couple of colorings or crafts
- Something given to them by someone special
- Baby teeth/ lock of hair etc.
- Gifts that were handmade
Donate
For all of the things you won’t keep and are still in good condition, sell or give to others. Everyone appreciates these items:
- Clean clothes
- Gently used toys
- Unopened baby products (diaper boxes, lotions, etc.)
- Any large gear (stroller, crib, car seat, etc.)
- Books
Toss
No one likes to throw things away, but these are the things you don’t need to keep and no one else wants:
- Pacifiers
- Clothing that is too worn
- Items like nasal aspirators or thermometers
- Baby art (OR you can store it digitally by scanning it to your computer or taking a picture of it)
- Toys that have seen better days
