What to do with Children’s Art Work

If your refrigerator is piled high with your child’s masterpieces, it may be time to find alternate ways to display their creativity.

As much as you love everything your child does, they crank out quite a bit of art. If you are displaying those early masterpieces you have probably thought to yourself at least once “what do I do with all this stuff?” Well, no worries here are some great ideas on what to do with those beloved pieces of art:

Digital Photo Frame

These things are great for any 21st century family. With this, you can scan your child’s drawings, except for anything that protrudes (think macaroni art), and then upload it to a slideshow. Not only will this get rid of piles of paper, it will also save the work digitally so you can keep it forever.

Fun frames

Let’s be honest, sometimes kids are more interested their creations than we are. But it’s still important to make them feel that their work is valuable and should be treated as such. Check out flea markets, thrift stores, and dollar stores for cheap frames. Let your kids help pick them out so they feel more included, then hang them in their room. To avoid having to take them down and put them up each time there needs to be a change in display, you can simply hang empty frames and let your child put the pictures on the wall inside the frame (putty is a great, non-paint damaging adhesive). Not only will you save money on wall art for their room, but kids will decide on their own what pictures they want to keep around long term, and which can be replaced.

Floating shelves

These selves are super stylish and give you plenty of room to display any crafts that can’t be hung. Be careful where you place shelves though because kids love to pick up their art and play with it or show it off, so make sure you hang the shelves in a way your child will not injure themselves.

Gifts

Sometimes you have too much for just one household. During the holidays or other special occasions let your child choose art they have already made and give it to loved ones as a personal gift. Grandparents are especially appreciative of this type of present.

Make a book

Imagine a cute coffee table book guest can pursue that’s filled with your little one’s art work. Shutterfly is one company that offers unique photo book options. You simply upload a scanned image or digital picture then select which book you would like them to be printed in. The finished book is then mailed to you.

No matter how you choose to save those memories, make sure your child is involved in the choice, so you are fostering their creativity.
