Creative writing can be fun and gets your kids thinking. Take some time to practice writing with some of these prompts.
- Think about the last book you read. What would you do if you were the main character?
- Write a perfect day from beginning to end for mom and dad. What would they do?
- You have the power to freeze time at will. What would you do?
- Think of a problem, come up with a solution for it.
- Imagine you never had to sleep. What would you do with the extra time?
- Write a thank you letter to a friend who gave you a cold.
- You’re locked in the zoo overnight! What do you do?
- If you had unlimited amounts of money, but could only buy things for other people, how would you spend it?
- Write about your favorite song. Why do you like it?
- Write a poem about your favorite food.
- If you could change your name, what would you change it to?
- Write a list of 10 things you could do to help other people.
- Write about something that you used to be scared of, but aren’t anymore.
- If could invite anyone to dinner, who would it be? What would you serve them?
- Write about a time you did something bad and were caught. How did you feel?
- What is your favorite part of the day? What about your least favorite? Why?
- Describe the last thing you learned. How did you learn it and how is it important?
- If you were president, what would you do first?
- How would your life be different if you were a boy/girl?
- If you had your own talk show, who would you invite? What would you talk about?
