More Writing Prompts for Kids

Creative writing can be fun and gets your kids thinking. Take some time to practice writing with some of these prompts.

  1. Think about the last book you read. What would you do if you were the main character?
  2. Write a perfect day from beginning to end for mom and dad. What would they do?
  3. You have the power to freeze time at will. What would you do?
  4. Think of a problem, come up with a solution for it.
  5. Imagine you never had to sleep. What would you do with the extra time?
  6. Write a thank you letter to a friend who gave you a cold.
  7. You’re locked in the zoo overnight! What do you do?
  8. If you had unlimited amounts of money, but could only buy things for other people, how would you spend it?
  9. Write about your favorite song. Why do you like it?
  10. Write a poem about your favorite food.
  11. If you could change your name, what would you change it to?
  12. Write a list of 10 things you could do to help other people.
  13. Write about something that you used to be scared of, but aren’t anymore.
